Click on the “Add-in: cite while you write (endnote cwyw.dll)” and then hit Enable. After doing that, close Word 2007 as well as all other Office programs and then restart Word2007. University owned computers
Staff members: Install EndNote on a university computer yourself
If you are a University of Melbourne staff member, you can install EndNote yourself on a university-owned computer, using the Software Centre (Windows) or Self Service (Mac) application.
Staff working on university computers have their home/personal drive stored on OneDrive. Please note cloud storage tends to corrupt EndNote libraries. Visit the following page for recommendations.

Students and staff: Ask IT to install EndNote on a university computer
If you cannot access the Software Portal (Windows) or Self Service (Mac) on a university-owned computer, you can ask IT to install EndNote for you:
- Phone the IT Service Desk (8344 0888), or

After EndNote has been installed on your university computer, you should check for updates, and that the EndNote toolbar for Word has been installed, see steps 4 and 5 below.

Step 2: Uninstall previous versions of EndNote
EndNote recommend that you back up any existing EndNote library files and any customised content files (e.g. output styles, connection files, and import filters), close all open programs, and then uninstall any older versions of EndNote.
Step 3: Download and Install EndNote

- Right click the link (or, on a Mac, hold down the control key on your keyboard and click the link), and,
- Select: 'Save Link As..' or 'Download Linked File As..' or similar to save the file to your computer.

- EndNote X8.0.1 for Mac (Mac OS X Yosemite v10.10 and later)
Step 4: Update EndNote
When you open EndNote for the first time you will be prompted to update to the latest version of EndNote.
We recommend that you update to the latest version (if your computer meets the system requirements), so that you can take advantage of the latest features, bug fixes, optimisations and other improvements including compatibility with Word 2016.
If you are using Word 2016, you should also update to the latest version of Word 2016.
Step 5: Check for the EndNote toolbar in Word
Open Microsoft Word. If you do not see the EndNote toolbar or commands under the Tools menu, follow these instructions.
Step 6: Configure EndNote for University of Melbourne services
Endnote
EndNote X8 and EndNote X7 should install pre-configured for use with University of Melbourne authentication systems and with all styles, connections and filters available for use.

The product key should load automatically once you load the files. If asked for a product key you will need to reinstall and ensure all files have been extracted or unzipped.
To download files please check the hardware requirements for your computer then click on the appropriate file.
- EndNote X6 for PC: If you are loading X6 for PC you will need to upzip the files into a new folder on your hard drive then load the software from the new folder (this is very important or the product key will not load).
- EndNote X7 for PC: If you are loading X7 for PC you will need to download both the installation and product key files into a folder, then run the installation file to install it. You don't need to open the other file.
- EndNote X6 or X7 for MAC: You will only need to download and run the one file.
If you are running Word 2013 for PC you will need to download EndNote X7.
Note: Firefox can sometimes add a .doc extension to the downloaded file. We recommend that you use Internet Explorer or Chrome to download these files.
